The Millipede Movie

Here is a short video clip of the millipede we found on our minibeast hunt. Watch how the millipede uses its antenna to feel what's around. What do you think the millipede was doing?

Bugs in a Box

We've been making bugs in a box in our design and technology lessons with Mr Eccles. Here are some of the bugs we made!

Our Minibest Hunt

We had a fantastic minibeast hunt in the school grounds. We found some interesting and unusual minibeasts. Group A found a large hornet sitting under the branch of a tree and Group B found two very large millipedes. One was curled up in a ball and the other was coming out of a hole.

We also saw spiders, ants, butterflies, flies and snails. We saw lots and lots of eaten leaves but we could not find any of the caterpillars that had eaten the leaves.

We have been learning about the habitats of different minibeasts and we looked at lots of different habitats during our minibeast hunt.

Welcome back to school!

Hello class, welcome back to school! This term we will be learning lots of new and exciting things.

We have already talked about being 'smart' and what 'smart' looks like and sounds like. In our groups we decided that...

Being smart looks like:
Listening to the teacher
Putting your hand up to speak
Sitting nicely
Doing your best work
Asking lots of questions
Asking for help if you need it
Speaking politely
Playing nicely
Being helpful
Keeping the class tidy
Having good ideas
Learning from mistakes

Being smart sounds like:
Please
Thankyou
Can you help me please?
Can I help you?
Please could you say that again?
I don't know
I need more time to think
I think that
I love learning

It's cool to be smart and to keep learning!

Timelines

We are learning to make a history timeline. Teacher Paul gave us different events in history and we worked in groups to talk about what were the oldest and what were the newest events. We then had to put them in a 5000 year timeline and think about events that were BC and AD.

Looking at the timeline we could see that the Ancient Egyptians lived a very long time ago and that their civilisation lasted well over two housand years.

Inside our bodies

We've had lots of fun making 'human bodies' with internal organs. We worked in groups and drew round the smallest children in the class. We then researched different organs and drew our own to put inside our 'bodies.' These included a brain, lungs, heart, stomach, liver, kidneys and intestines.
